Everyone says that even though the market is bad now its a good time to invest? Anyone have any ideas where to start? What shares to buy? Any guidelines on how to invest?

Talk to a broker. Start a ROTH IRA account, then buy mutual funds.

Beginner should open a mutual fund account with Charles Schwab, Fidelity or some other financial group. This way you start depositing funds in small increments while you learn about the market. Choose no load funds that contain stocks you are interested in. You can do the research of mutual funds on line. Once you have confidence and the cash you can start purchasing stock through your financial group.
